A is for Anthropologie

Ebay Advice:

A is also for Always Be Listing. That is the single best ebay advice I've ever gotten (can't remember the blog it came from?). Ebay promotes active sellers and all of your items will pull up more if you list daily. Even just listing 3 items a day will help keep your store active. It will also mean you have items ending most days which also helps pull up your items. Because this is such an important tip that's the only 'A' ebay advice.

Clothing & Shoe Brands:

This is not an exhaustive list of A brands. Feel free to leave your favorite A brands in the comments!!

Click on the brand names to see recently sold pre-owned items of this brand and do some research yourself.

Anthropologie -- I could and probably should write an entire post about Anthropologie. I sell a lot of Anthropologie items. They are a website that has many in house brands and sells select items from other brands. The items have the RN 66170. Urban Outfitters & Free People also use this RN. Urban Outfitters brand's are not worth nearly as much as Anthropologie brands so I use this website. It has links for Anthro tags (some labels don't have names just images) as well as Urban Outfitters tags. I suggest looking through the labels and memorizing some of the brands. A lot of people put the word Anthropologie in titles just to try and get more views but I try not to do that. I worry someone will return for item not as described because a brand isn't actually Anthropologie. Around here Moth, Elevenses, Daughters of the Liberation, Pilcro and the Letterpress and Mother are quite common. I do the best with Anthro shoes dresses, coats and jeans. Neat looking sweaters also do well. Anthropologie boots can be worth a lot. I sold a pair for nearly $200. Most items have a product name and taking the time to find it can help your item sell for a lot more.

Athleta -- Newer/more unique Athleta items do the best. Almost anything Athleta sells for me so I always pick it up at the outlet. From thrift stores I try to stick to things in excellent condition that aren't too expensive (under $5). Sweatshirts, pants and coats can be worth more so paying a little extra is sometimes worth it. Athleta items have a style number so it is easy to look them up prior to purchasing to see if they are worth it.

All Saints -- This brand does well on ebay across the board. Sweaters, dresses and coats do especially well. Leather jackets are a must buy unless they are crazy expensive. They also make shoes which sell well. Remember that sometimes AllSaints items will have only a UK size so do some research to make sure you are putting the right US size (normally they are 4 sizes down so a UK 12 is US 8). Some items will have both sizes.

Avivit Yizhar -- I've only found one item from this brand but they do well on ebay. They have a neat lagenlook style and mine sold quickly.

Ann Demeulemeester -- I've never found anything by this brand but it's a dream of mine!! I think her boots and coats are so cute!! Plus they sell for a pretty penny so that's always a plus.

Anyi Lu -- Expensive heels & boots. These sometimes end up in the Nordstrom Rack but it doesn't seem to have seriously diminished their resale value on ebay. Wide variety of prices.

Ariat -- I've had good luck with the boots. Ariat Fatbaby boots do extra well. Use your judgement on vintage shoes because some do well and some do poorly. Wide variety of prices

Aquatalia -- Boots sell really well. I sold an unsized pair for $35 which is really cheap for the brand but great for an unsized boot! Generally go for over $50 and can go for well over $100

Arche -- All styles do well. Basically all shoes in good condition will sell for over $50. Special styles or boots can go for over $100.

Aston Grey -- Men's boots that are stylish do quite well. They can go for $50+. Normal shoes are much more hit and miss.

Alphabet fun with ebay!

Over the next few weeks (maybe months it'll depend on how lazy I am..notice I've only posted twice ever and I started this baby in May so yeah it might be a few years even.) I'll be going through the letters of the alphabet giving tips on how to succeed at ebay as well as clothing and shoe brands that do well for me corresponding to each letter. Hopefully this will keep me motivated to keep listing because it's always fun to use the alphabet as a tool to success... It's Ebay kindergarten!

Weekend Thrift Haul(s)

So this weekend I did a lot of shopping. Thursday I went to the goodwill outlet where I ended up paying $0.99/lb because I bought over 25lbs of clothing. Friday & Saturday I went to a TON of garage sales. Strangely I also got mostly got clothing from the garage sales which is unusual for me. Listing everything I got would take forever and some of it isn't really that interesting so I'll just list my favorite few items.

CAbi blazer/coat. This is seriously an amazing blazer. I found it at the outlet and knew it was coming home with me. I paid $0.99/lb so this was probably around a dollar.

Vasna Desire dress. This is a sheer dress that has a Lagenlook style to it with big pockets on the sides. I will have to wear something underneath or it would be SUPER inappropriate but I have the perfect black stretchy bodycon dress for under here. I wear it under a white crochet dress I have and it keeps all the important bits covered. I paid $5.60 because it was a 30% off day.

Theory striped dress. This is the second Theory dress I have found this week! How awesome is that? I don't actually really like how this one looks on me but it is really soft and thick wool so I couldn't leave it behind. I will sell it on ebay so some other lucky person can have this great dress.
Paid: $4.90

Anthropologie skull top. This is a great sweatshirt that I found at the outlet. I thought it was a women's but after trying it on I see the sleeves are way too long so it must be a men's top. I think this is kind of a weird men's top but hey who knows. I will also be selling this since I drown in this. Paid about a dollar for this as well.

Boden coat. Hands down this is my favorite find from this weekend. Boden clothes can be hit or miss for me but this is a HIT. I love the color and the details on the front. It is just too cute. Paid $5.99.

I bought a ton more stuff but these were my favorite finds. I also found 3 pairs of Hudson jeans and 1 pair of True Religion shorts at the outlet which is awesome. I spent a lot of money but most likely all of it will end up on ebay at some point. I wear what I love and sell it once I am sick of it. I get to dress in awesome clothes and then make money on them when I am done. How awesome is it to make a profit on clothing instead of spending a ton?!? Thank you thrift stores...

Have you ever sold your thrift store clothes when you are done with them?

Tuesday Goodwill Haul -- How to buy $1015 in clothes for $30.89 UPDATED with Ebay Sales prices!

Yesterday I went to a Goodwill that recently opened in my area. For the Goodwill's near me Tuesday is the day that the "color of the week" is $1.99. This week was pink so anything with a pink tag cost $1.99. I normally don't have that much luck finding the color of the week by Tuesday but maybe because this Goodwill was new or I was lucky or they have been pricing things too high I found a bunch of great stuff. I tried to only buy pink tags but some other items snuck in as well. I'll start with the pink tags.

Total sales from ebay: $270.73 (notice the ebay prices are still an awesome savings from retail. If you have an item you would normally buy at retail price consider checking ebay for it first. You will also most likely have to pay shipping but there are some great deals on ebay!)

If I did any math wrong feel free to harrass me in the comments. I already did it wrong once because I missed one of the items. Oops!

I paid less than 10% just like the lovely ladies from Too Cheap Blondes always recommend! I also managed to make over $200 from one trip to the Goodwill.

I was super pleased with this trip and hope that this Goodwill continues to have such awesome stuff. This is one of my better hauls recently (which is probably why I was motivated to actually start posting on this blog). I found a lot more brand new items than I usually do. These are great for ebay but for me it doesn't really make a difference whether someone has worn the item a few times. I think other shoppers agree which is why these over priced items were still there on $1.99 tag day. Does your Goodwill WAY overprice new items too?

I was basically overjoyed when I found the Diane von Furstenberg dress because it is gorgeous and after trying it on I think I had to wipe away a few tears because it fit so well. I can't wait to wear it once the weather warms up (the weather here seems to not realize I am prepared for summer and cold spring days can take a hike). UPDATE -- I had to wipe away a few more tears when I decided to sell this dress! I sold it for $63.74 which was a great deal for the buyer, but it was also a good profit for me!
